Drinking a cup of Joe or a cup of green tea can actually cut your risk for stroke. Although the exact mechanism on how this occurs is still being researched, it is thought that compounds in these drinks may protect against blood clots. In addition, the strong anti-inflammatory compounds in green tea, catechins, may add an additional layer of protection.

Few prospective studies have examined the impact of both green tea and coffee consumption on strokes. We investigated the association of the combination of those consumption with stroke incidence in a general population.
