We need to consider the biologic basis of depression. This research shows that even the brains of some preschoolers show a significant difference when mood disorders come into play. The younger we understand mood disorders the more we are able to help children and prevent longterm consequences. Even if medication is completely avoided!

A brain region that processes emotions works differently in preschoolers with depression than in those without the mental health disorder, a new study shows.
